1 Portfolio Recovery is trying to collect on some debt discharged in a bankruptcy or legally judgement proof long ago. They change or spoof area codes. My retirement solution is to insist upon initial calls leaving a voice message, which Portfolio Recovery never does. They also send in snail mail what looks like a final notice before collections, but buried in the small print, which takes my bifocals and magnifying glass to read, is that the debt they are attempting to collect might be beyond judgment or even discharged in bankruptcy.
